Coming on stage in a cute black dress, with rhinestone boots, and hat, EmiSunshine was welcome by the eager crowd, some who have waited years to have her perform at the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts (BPCA), Bloomington, IL.

She opened her 90 minute set with “Big Big World” which will be on her upcoming fourth album which is slated to be released in 2019.

With Dad on guitar, upright bass, and occasionally singing harmony with Emi, as well as her brother John strumming the mandolin and guitar, and uncle on the percussion, this family likes to keep it all in the family. Emi writes many of her songs with her mom Alisha, but has been writing with several Nashville songwriters.

EmiSunshine kept the audience attention with witty banter between family members between songs. She often spoke of her songwriting process and the stories that gave her inspiration. She was giddy with delight and grateful when the sponsors of the show, Fox & Hounds Day Spa, gave her the royal treatment upon arriving in Bloomington, by having her hair done and fingers manicured for the evening’s performance.

She performed a crowd favorite rendition of “Coal Miner’s Daughter” by the great Loretta Lynn.

Between playing the guitar, mandolin, and electric guitar to yodeling and to scatting, EmiSunshine brings the full breadth of her talents to the stage.

While there were some technical difficulties which can happen in any show, Emi handled them like the young professional that she is. She is a spitfire, but also handles herself with a poise not often seen by many teenagers today.

Emi and Brother John move into performing together with her favorite haunting ghost story murder ballads.

She ended the show with one of her favorite songs that she first wrote “Little Black Bird.” Emi’s energetically had the audience clapping as she and her band performed different various of the chorus of “Little Black Bird,” changing different keys, to tempo changes, bringing instruments in and out.

Leaving the performance hall, one could hear comments about Emi’s talent as “phenomenal,” “amazing,” and “such a talented young lady.” This performance left everyone with a smile on their face.
